West Bend Theatre Company Inc. is proud to announce Robb Bessey as its inaugural artistic director.
Bessey has a degree in technical theatre from the University of Delaware. He has worked professionally for the University of Iowa, the Goodman Theatre in Chicago and served as technical director for The Milwaukee Rep.
In addition to his technical credits, Bessey enjoys the sound of applause, when on stage as an actor. He is recognized in southeastern Wisconsin for his work, which includes many performances with the West Bend Theatre Company.
His most recent credit with the West Bend Theatre Company was “Our Town” in October where he starred as Doc Gibbs. His other West Bend Theatre Company credits include the roles of God in “An Act of God,” Brian Ballybunion in “Flanagan’s Wake,” and has appeared in “A Christmas Carol” as Bob Cratchit and the Narrator.
Bessey has also appeared in “Outside Mullingar” and was Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol” with Lake Country Players. He is a regular performer at Kettle Moraine Playhouse.
“I’m looking forward to creating a season of shows that will be fun for audiences, as well as compelling for performers,” Bessey said. “West Bend Theatre Company is known for the seasonal production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ and for giving back to the community. The next thing we hope to accomplish is naming our nonprofit partners for the 2022- 2023 season.”
Nancy Storrs, West Bend Theatre Company board of directors president, said, “Robb is an immensely talented performer with a wealth of experience and knowledge. He is going to be a tremendous asset to the West Bend Theatre Company and its continued growth.”
